Green Juice Now, Champagne Later

As I told you a couple weeks ago, I’m going to school to become a holistic nutritionist. As soon as I picked up this shirt I knew I had to use this quote in my future practice. I just feel that it perfectly sums up my beliefs on health.

I used to say “everything in moderation, including moderation,” meaning you shouldn’t gorge yourself on cookies and cake but that occasional treat or late night out isn’t going to hurt you. Green Juice Now, Champagne Later is a less serious way of saying the same thing, which is more my style.

Actually, by allowing yourself to enjoy your favorite things you’ll be more likely to stick to a healthy diet.

Life is meant to be enjoyed. Can you really enjoy life to its fullest if you’re turning down amazing meals just because you’re on a strict diet? Having a one-track-mind when it comes to diet can even become dangerous if you develop orthorexia. So go out with friends to celebrate life and enjoy all the goodies that are offered. If you drink your green juice now, then the occasional glass of champagne won’t have that big of an affect on your health.

Another reason I believe in this way of living is because we can never really be sure of when or how we’re going to leave this life. Do you want to spend your life eating ‘perfectly’ just to get hit by a car when you’re 40? I don’t! I much rather enjoy my time on this earth since no amount of superfoods will save me when my time comes.

Make smart decisions but don’t get weighed down by the desire to be perfectly healthy. Get drunk, dance on tables and live your life!
