How To Stock a Smoothie Pantry
One of my favorite things to drink is a smoothie. They’re so easy to mix up to fill me in the morning or give me an energy boost in the afternoon. When I first started making smoothies I would search the internet for recipes and they would have some crazy ingredient in them that I would have to go buy. I was also never sure what items would taste good together so I just didn’t make them that often.
Lately I’ve been stocking up on the basics for smoothies and now I have lots of fun trying out different flavour combinations and different ingredients for every time of day. Here are some of the things I’ve found that I must have on hand.
Fruit and Vegetables
- Green Apples
- Berries of every kind
I like to keep these frozen in individual bags so I can buy in bulk and not have to worry about them going bad. Really this list could be endless. There’s no limit to what fruits and veggies you put in your smoothies. The only thing stopping you would be the strength of your blender versus the hardness of the veg.
- Almond Milk
- Rice Milk
- Coconut Milk
- Green Tea
- Purified Water
You can really add any liquid you like. I reccomend that you stay away from fruit juices that are high in sugar and full of artificial flavours.
- Chia Seeds
- Natural Nut Butter
- Raw Cacao
- Coconut Oil (Virgin, Cold Pressed)
- Flax Seen
These are just my favorites but feel free to add anything that sounds good to you!
Most of these items are fairly affordable and available at regular grocery stores. Chia, spirulina, coconut oil and raw cacao are a little more pricey and you might have to look a couple places to find them. You can just pick these up whenever funds allow. They’re not necessary to make a great smoothie but they sure are fun to mix in every now and then. Once you have the basics on hand you’ll realize how simple it is to throw together a smoothie whenever you’re looking for a healthy meal or snack.
So tell me, what are your favorite ingredients for smoothies?
