Get Your Shit Together – One Specific Mind Switch To Crush Your Goals
Vague goals will never work. Make them specific and crush them.
I haven’t made a New Years Resolution in well, years. I believe that every moment is a new chance to start again. crush you goals and kick ass at life. With this mind set I’ve recently overhauled my diet and started working out regularly. Bonus points: I’ve lost a few pounds too, mostly because I’m not bloated all the damn time.
It’s impossible to escape the New Year hype though. I’ve still made plans to purge my whole house, redecorate, go to more yoga classes and see all my friends more often. This is a lot of stuff to do and there’s one secret to getting it all done…
I have to be specific.
Being specific is the key to crushing your goals
It’s great to say ‘I’m going to go to more yoga classes’, but that’s not a goal. A goal has to be specific for it to work.
I will go to yoga twice a week on Thursdays and Saturdays. That’s a goal.
I will purge my kitchen cupboards and redecorate on Saturday January 21st. That’s a goal.
I will make plans with one friend a week to see them on Friday afternoons. That’s a goal.
To crush a goal you need to know when and how you’re going to do it.
So let’s say your goal for this year is to lose 25 pounds. That’s an awesome goal but it can be daunting to think of it all at once.
I will lose 5 pounds a month, for 5 months, by walking three miles four times a week, in the morning before work. That’s a damn specific goal and it’s going to change everything!
Now you know when you’re going to work towards it so if you skip out its pretty f—ing obvious.
You’re not leaving the how up to chance.
Create your life around your goal
Not your goal around your life.
I know people who say day planners ‘restrict them’. That they ‘don’t like being boxed in’.
How many of those people never reach their goals because they’re screwing around without a plan?
If this is you girl, get yourself a damn planner.
You have to plan your life around your goals.
You ‘don’t have time’ to workout because you’re so busy? We’re all busy, plan your life around your goals and make the time to move your booty.
Your friends want to go out for appetizers and wine but you’re trying to lose weight? Invite them over and make a healthy app and buy one of those little bottles of wine that only have one glass in them.
Your boyfriend wants to stay up late and watch Criminal Minds but you made plans to go to yoga in the morning? You tell that boy that you can’t let yourself down and you’ve got a kick ass life to live.
Get a planner and write your ‘when’ and ‘how’ in first then work everything else around it.
If you ‘don’t like planners’ it can even just be a notebook where you write down your daily schedule. I really like the bullet journal method to organize my life at the moment.
What is your biggest goal for this year? Comment below with your ‘when’ and ‘how’ and let’s crush goals together!
